See-ing

These past weeks I've been trying to SEE how/where God is moving in our lives.

I see my children everyday, but what do I notice about them? Do I notice the toys that need to be picked up, the dishes done or that Kyle is wrestling Micah on the floor? I confess that the chores usually have my attention. However, after hearing the loud cries, I quickly move from the chores to make sure they are allright.

Had I paid attention before I heard the cries, I would find that Kyle is not trying to manhandle, wrestle or crush his little brother, but rather wants to give him a hug. I need to see the whole picture.

I see Micah everyday play with toys and stand independantly a little more each day. But do I see the big strides he's making? Usually not.

But when others come into our home and who haven't seen him everyday for the past week (or two), they see something totally different. And it is through their seeing I am comforted at his progress. The best part is I am able to see him as he truely is, right here and now. Not what I would hope he would be, or how he hasn't gotten to walking yet, but where he is today and it helps me see how far he has come. At this gives me hope.
